To raise awareness and to support all the children and adolescents suffering from cancer, February 15 is celebrated as the International Childhood Cancer Day (ICCD) every year. Read on to know more about the symptoms and treatment of Cancer.

Symptoms of Cancer in Children

The symptoms of cancer are different in children than that in adolescents. Therefore, it becomes challenging to detect cancer in children. The symptoms of childhood cancer are quite common to that of other typical childhood illnesses like a common cold. However, we recommend you to consult a doctor if you notice your children developing these symptoms:

• Difficulty in urination and blood discharge during urination. • Persistent headache
• Back Pain on a regular basis
• Fatigue

• Unexplained bleeding
• Flu-like symptoms and infections • Sudden weight loss
• Unexplained bruising
• Shortness of breath
• The rise in body temperature etc.

There are also cases when children with cancer do not show any of the above signs. If you observe any difference in your children health, it is suggested that you must consult a doctor.

Treatment of Childhood Cancer

The treatment of childhood cancer mainly depends on the type as well as the stage of cancer. The various types of childhood cancer include:

• Surgery
• Chemotherapy
• Radiation Therapy

High-dose chemotherapy followed by a stem cell transplant is also used to treat some types of childhood therapy. Some new type of treatment available includes targeted therapy drugs as well as immunotherapy.

So if you notice any of these signs among your children, make sure you start the treatment at the right time. Only timely treatment can help you treat the problem from the roots.
